The history
The South African Under-20 team, nicknamed the Junior Springboks, have been competing in the World Rugby Under 20 Championship since its inception in 2008. This Under-20 tournament replaced the previously-held Under-19 and Under-21 Rugby World Championships, both of which were won by teams from South Africa on a number of occasions in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

The Under-20 teams of South Africa, Argentina, Australia, England, Fiji, France, Georgia, Ireland, Italy, New Zealand, Scotland and Wales play in the World Rugby U20 Championship.
