The Durbanites were superb in their previous outing last weekend against the Emirates Lions in Johannesburg, but on Saturday they struggled throughout against the well-organised South Americans in front of their own supporters.

A poor defensive efforts saw the East Coast side concede seven tries on their home turf and by halftime they were already 21-10 down after the visitors ran in three converted tries.

The 51 points scored by the Jaguares is the second-most ever conceded by the Cell C Sharks in Durban – one less than the 52 scored by the Crusaders at Jonsson Kings Park in 2015.

The international-laden Jaguares side stamped their authority from an early stage and kept the pressure on throughout while keeping the scoreboard ticking at regular intervals.

Hyron Andrews and Aphelele Fassi scored for the home side, while Matias Orlado led the scoring for the visitors with a hat-trick of tries, followed by Tomas Cubelli, Pablo Matera (2) and Matias Moroni.

Following last week’s surprise win over the Vodacom Bulls in Loftus, the Argentine side now leave South African shores with two good wins in the bag.

In their next match the Cell C Sharks host the Reds from 15h05 on Friday, 19 April, while the Jaguares return home to for a rest weekend.
