About
The Bulls Daisies completed a perfect season in 2023, winning every one of their games as they claimed the Women's Premier Division title for the first time since 2006, beating DHL WP in the Final in Pretoria. In 2022, the Border Ladies successfully defended the title they also won in 2021 in an epic final against DHL WP in Cape Town, which was the fifth consecutive final between these two unions. The other teams in the competition in 2023 were the Golden Lions Women, the EP Queens, Sanlam Boland Dames, Sharks Women and the Free State Women, who were promoted after the 2022 season in which they won the First Division.
The history
A revamped Women's Premier Division returned to the schedule in 2021. Provincial teams from Boland, Border, the Bulls, Eastern Province, KwaZulu-Natal and Western Province featured in a jam-packed 11-week competition over a double round of action, culminating in the final between WP and Border in Cape Town, where the Ladies won back the title for the first time in five years. Western Province won the title in 2019, while no competition took part in 2020 due to the COVID pandemic.
