PLAYER WRITE-UP
Injuries have caused havoc with Lionel Mapoe’s career, but once he shrugged off the worst, he’s constantly been performing well at Absa Currie Cup and Vodacom Super Rugby level. Mapoe first made his mark playing for the Free State Cheetahs, but has since moved to the Golden Lions. He is big, strong and very fast and has represented South Africa at Sevens and Under-20 level. His call-up to the Springbok squad during The Castle Rugby Championship as injury replacement was well-deserved and he is sure to still represent his country at the highest level.
