| Elusive around the scrum base, Powell shows surprising power for his size.
Played for the Cats this year in his third season of Super 12 after a solitary appearance in 2001.
Born in Namibia but educated in Bloemfontein, Powell attended Central High School and the University of Free State and played for the Cheetahs Craven Week and under-21 teams.
He represented SA at under-21 level in 1997 and played one match for the SA Barbarians in 1999.
