Statistically, this British & Irish side can be regarded as the
worse that ever toured this country. With a 43% win ratio it is the only British &
Irish touring side which failed to win at least half their games. At the end of the tour
they only scored 20 points more than their opposition. |

Herbert Waddell, Scottish flyhalf in this touring side, later saw
his son, Gordon, touring with the 1962 British Lions to South Africa while JD Clinch of
Ireland followed in his father's footsteps who toured South Africa with the 1896 British
Lions. |
