The Cell C Sharks XV scored nine tries as they thrashed the Leopards 57-28 (half-time 29-14) in their SuperSport Rugby Challenge match at the Impala Rugby Football Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The sunny conditions continued into the second SuperSport Rugby Challenge match of the SuperSport Rugby Festival in Rustenburg as the Leopards battled it out against the Cell C Sharks XV in the Central Section meeting.

The Cell C Sharks XV scored to quick tries in the opening minutes of the match as scrumhalf Grant Williams and flank Kwanda Dimaza crossed the whitewash.

There were tries aplenty in the first half as wing Leolin Zas dotted down and was shortly followed by lock Hyron Andrews who scored the visitors' bonus point try in 18th minute.

Wedged into that was a converted try to Leopards flank Gideon van der Merwe with flyhalf Schalk Hugo adding the extras.

A further two tries were added before the break with each team scoring a five-pointer. Courtney Winnaar scored the Sharks XV fifth try which flyhalf Garth April could not convert.

The action was unrelenting as the Leopards scored their second try courtesy of wing Gene Williams to cut the deficit to 29-14 just before half-time.

The men in red and green took a leaf out of the previous match as the home team were galvanized after the break and scored in the 45th minute as inside centre Bradley Moolman dotted down.

The Sharks XV responded with a try by inside centre Johan Deysel which opened the flood gates for the visitors as they scored three more tries to replacement utility back Tristan Blewett, wing Aphelele Fassi and no.8 Tera Mtembu.

The Leopards did score a try in the 71st minute to wing Justin Newman but it was merely a consolation as the visitors ran out 57-28 victors.
