SA Provincial U20 Round Three Review
June 19, 2017
The high-flying Down Touch Griffons came crashing down to earth in the SA Rugby Under-20 Championships on Saturday when they lost 26-20 to Limpopo in Pretoria, but the Welkom-based team still lead the log after three rounds of play in the competition.

Having posted 50+ past their opponents in the opening two weeks, the Down Touch Griffons found the Limpopo side in no mood for favours, especially in the second half. A late try by the home side sealed the deal.

The Limpopo side recorded their first win, as did SWD, who had too much firepower for Boland, winning 55-15 at Outeniqua Park in George. The Boland were trailing from the start and remain at the bottom of the log and the only team yet to register a win. Last year's finalists will need to show dramatic improvement if they want to contest for the title again this year.

In the other match of the weekend, Tafel Lager Griquas, also scored a first win of the year by beating Border 55-15 in Kimberley. The Border side still had some say in the match at halftime, trailing only 21-10, but had no reply in the second half, when the home side scored at will.

Next weekend's fixtures (24 June) will see Down Touch Griffons hosting Steval Pumas, Boland will be hoping for a first win when Limpopo Blue Bulls visit and Border will welcome Hino Valke to East London, looking for a second win the competition.

A summary of results and scorers of round three are:
