Western Province on top in Riversdale

Western Province remained unbeaten at the annual Coca-Cola Under-16 Grant Khomo Week in Riversdale on Thursday.

The Cape team held their nerve and edged out Free State 17-13 in the afternoon fixture at the Oakdale High School. As a result, Province are top of the 18-team log on 13 points followed by the Free State side and Border, who are both on 11.

Border secured their second win of the Coca-Cola Under-16 Grant Khomo Week after comprehensively defeating Limpopo 45-10. The Lions also enjoyed a commanding victory as they outclassed Griquas 48-0.

There were also narrow victories for the Kwazulu-Natal and Valke Under-16 sides. The Durban team defeated Eastern Province 11-10 while the Valke picked up their second win in Riversdale thanks to a 15-11 win over the SWD XV.

The Blue Bulls and SWD played to a 10-10 draw. The Griffons also bagged their first win of the Coca-Cola Under-16 Grant Khomo Week and defeated the Leopards 29-20.
