SA to face Ireland in quarters of SudamericaRugby7s
January 07, 2018
The SA Rugby Sevens Academy will face Ireland in the quarterfinals of the SudamericaRugby7s tournament being played in Punta del Este in Uruguay after finishing second in pool A of the tournament. Kick-off time is 00h58 on Monday morning (SA time).

South Africa scored good wins over Paraguay (45-0) and Germany (45-0) but lost to Chile (19-10) to finish second in their pool on Saturday.

The SA Rugby Sevens Academy has met Ireland in their last two tournaments, the Oktoberfest Sevens in Munich and the Emirates Airline Dubai Sevens International Invitational, winning on both occasions, but will need to be at their best to make it three in a row.

They have lost hard-working forward, JC Pretorius, though as he dislocated his shoulder and was ruled out of play on Sunday.

Ireland, who now boast Allan Temple-Jones as their Strength and Conditioning Coach, has already qualified for the Rugby World Cup Sevens, to be played in San Francisco in July.

The other quarterfinals will be between Chile and Germany; Uruguay and Argentina and Brazil and France.
